2022 Racing Season Closer for GMG Racing!

With the Racing Season officially in the rear view mirror, we reminisce on a successful 2022 with many different racing series and a host of manufacturers under our care once again. As such, we had a blast finishing off the season in Texas, in support of the ever growing USA F1 fanbase. We had the honor of entering James Sofronas’ Audi R8 LMS Ultra and Kyle Washington in a Porsche GT3R into the Endurance Racing Legends category of the Masters Historics series. To say there were some big-time machines out on track is an understatement, but we were able to end the season with lots of smiles, a top in class / 3rd over all for James and top 10 spot for Kyle!

We of course don’t take much time to enjoy the “off-season” with monthly races at our second home, The Thermal Club. A place where we can go race as well as continue development of our street car performance products and customer car builds. Now, back to the shop to get ready for the next one as they say! Stay tuned for more from our weekly newsletter!

Y’all take care now. #gmgracing

GMG RACING – Porsche 992 GT3 Development!

GMG Racing has been a leader in Porsche aftermarket tuning and upgrades, in North America for the past 20 years. We continue to push the envelope with industry leading performance products for the best brand in the sports car market. With all of the success we’ve had with previous generations of GT3 and GT3 RS, we are bringing our winning formula to the new 992 GT3/GT3 RS platform!

Our team has been diving in head first with research and development of this new platform to improve on the exhaust, suspension, safety, chassis, and bodywork upgrades. GMG is very familiar with the GT3, as we have been a leader in performance and track upgrades, such as our WEC Roll bar, for this enthusiast car for years. We can’t wait to see what our team uncovers with this new GT3!

With a combination of our signature design formula and 3D scanning, we’ve developed exhaust systems for the 992 GT3 that we are extremely proud of! These exhausts are a direct replacement to the factory exhaust, no modifications required. We now offer our GMG GT3 WC-Sport Valved Exhaust System which is a direct replacement for the OEM center muffler. This system weighs in at only 16lbs and saves 20lbs off of the factory muffler.

Our second product is the GMG WC-Evo Race Exhaust System which is a full valved system that includes Equal Length Long Tube Headers! This setup weighs in at 46lbs, shaving 24lbs off of the OEM setup.

We did a dyno test to see how much of a difference our new 992 GT3 WC-Evo Race Exhaust System would make in sound and performance! We experienced a some nice gains throughout the whole rpm range, specifically from 4300-4600rpm!

GMG’s WC Rear Control Arm Set is CNC-machined from aerospace grade 6061 aluminum and hard anodized for corrosion resistance. The WC Rear Control Arms feature spherical bushings to increase the rigidity of the rear suspension mounts, which improves the rear stability and responsiveness of the car during hard breaking, sudden acceleration and cornering under higher g-loads.

We took the GMG 992 GT3 to the Thermal Track to test out our latest track setup with much anticipation! The latest upgrades included: the GMG WC Rear Control Arm Set, 992 GT3 WC-Evo Race Exhaust System, AP Racing Brake Kit, and Forgeline 19” GE1 wheels with Pirelli Slicks. The car was also setup with our signature GMG Competition Alignment which we were really excited to try as a proper alignment makes a huge difference in performance. Our GMG WC Rear Control Arm upgrade gives the car greater stability and a stiffer platform, allowing hard acceleration out of corners. This translates into earlier throttle application and strong runs down the next straight. Combine that with the immense grip from the Pirelli slicks and the car can carry speed at a noticeably higher rate through turns vs a stock configuration. Our WC-Evo Race Exhaust System gives us the much needed low-end torque and hp to launch out of corners!

We will continue to test and tune on this setup while we head into the summer heat but we have to admit, we can’t wait until we get a chance to test this config in 20-30 degree cooler temps as the lap times will be even quicker!

We’re continuing to build and improve our 992 GT3 product line with the introduction of our WC Muffler Center Section! This newest addition is compatible with both our WC-Sport Exhaust System and the full WC-Evo Exhaust System. This center section is meant to give you a more streetable exhaust with valves closed, while still retaining the signature GMG sound you love with the valves open!

GMG Racing Is Full Throttle Into Opening Weekend At Sonoma Raceway

At long last – GMG Racing is ready to blast the first race weekend of 2021 into the stratosphere! So begins the race season in Sonoma, California. Wine Country, you ask? Sure, but there’s no better place than our home state to get the season of sort-of-normalcy underway, especially in the lush greenery of NorCal. After all, Sonoma Raceway is a world-renowned venue, even without the jaw-dropping local scenery.

GMG’s ambition at the season opener goes without saying, at least when series hitter Jason Bell is mentioned. Piloting his new Aston Martin Vantage AMR, Bell is sure to fire on all cylinders. After testing the Aston’s incredible capabilities in the off-season, he’s ready to go full-gas solo in the new GT America Series and sure to test the waters around the weekend’s podium.

It’s also worth mentioning that for 2021, Bell is heading back to his GT4 Sprint X stomping ground with returning sidekick Andrew Davis. It’s their second full season together, and Davis has done more than enough to prove himself as a teammate, co-driver, and coach. His ambition to push the team to its fullest potential is plainly evident, and his passion toward achieving a championship this season is palpable amongst the crew. Bell shapes their 2021 ambitions in no uncertain terms, saying “I’m confident in our preparation and we are ready to contend. I’m excited to be able to share the seat with Andrew, and think we’ll be a powerful combination with both Aston Martin and GMG Racing.”
Davis is equally stoked, elating “We’ve formed a great bond, and chemistry is key to working together so closely…I can’t wait to contend for the championship this year!”

In addition to GMG’s GT America effort is returning force Elias Sabo, who’s also taking his Audi R8 LMS to task with co-driver Andy Lee in the GT4 Sprint X series. Their proven connection is sure to bear results, no matter the series they enter. “The GMG Racing team has worked non-stop during the off-season to give us a real shot at some podium finishes this year. I can’t wait to get it going in Sonoma!”, Lee confidently said.

Sabo added hungrily that “It’s great to be back in action with GMG. Adding a second car will be beneficial and provide more seat time each weekend as we continue to learn and improve. I’m looking forward to a great season.”

It’s easy to get distracted in Sonoma, and we wouldn’t blame you for losing track of relative newcomer Kyle Washington. His passion brings a new energy to the squad, and his strong 2020 run in the GT2 category was…well, remarkable. His leap to GT3 in the Porsche GT3R is something we’ve anticipated for a few some time, and being able to welcome Porsche Factory Pilot Patrick Long as Washington’s mentor is humbling, to say the least. We’re honored to have Long on board with our team, and doubly honored to have such standing with Porsche Motorsport.

While the past year has been full of challenges, the weekend is our first chance to prove that we haven’t forgotten why we’re here. GMG Logistics Director Joe Foster underscored our motivations clearly, saying “Every race weekend is a massive undertaking for me and one that I welcome. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t love it. Our history with Porsche and Audi speaks for itself and I’ve been very impressed thus far working with [new make] Aston Martin…I’m thankful we get to be back to work during these challenging times.”
We’ve done the work over the winter, and we can’t wait for the preparation to bear fruit with podiums in Sonoma! Stay tuned.

GMG Racing – Porsche 992 Turbo/Turbo S Development!

GMG Racing has been a leader in Porsche aftermarket tuning and upgrades, in North America for the past 20 years. We continue to push the envelope with industry leading performance products for the best brand in the sports car market. We are excited about the newly released 992 Turbo S and the media surrounding the car has been nothing but spectacular!

Our team has been diving in head first with research and development of this new platform to improve on the exhaust, suspension, tuning, chassis, and bodywork upgrades. Porsche Turbos are not new to GMG, as we have released our proprietary systems all the way back to 2001 with the first 996 TT. We can’t wait to see what our team uncovers with this new Turbo!

With a combination of our signature design formula and 3D scanning, we’ve developed and exhaust system for the 992 Turbo and Turbo S that we are extremely proud of! This exhaust is a direct replacement to the factory exhaust, no modifications required. Weighing in at only 31lbs, the GMG system is 15lbs lighter than the factory exhaust system.

Highlights:

    • Torque increase of 52ft-lb. and a 24hp gain
    • US Made T304 stainless tubing throughout
    • Meticulously TIG welded throughout to AWM aerospace specifications

    • Direct bolt on replacement, No Check Engine lights
    • 15lb. weight savings off OEM exhaust system

We performed a dyno test to see how much of a difference our new 992 Turbo Exhaust System would make in performance and we were quite pleased! We experienced a torque increase of 52ft-lb. and a 24hp gain! Our 992 Turbo Exhaust System weighs in at 31lbs, shaving 15lbs off the factory setup. In addition to the increased performance numbers and weight savings, this car sounds incredible!

There’s so much more to come so stay “Tuned!”

GMG Racing – Racing Yellow GT2 RS Canyon Cruiser!

This gorgeous Racing Yellow GT2 RS was brought to us recently to get some GMG love! The customer wasn’t really interested in tracking as much anymore, but still wanted something fast that he can enjoy as a canyon/cruising car.

We installed our GMG WC-GT Exhaust System, along with a set of CSF by PWR Intercoolers, and bumped up the power with a Stage 2 GIAC tune.

This beauty sits on a set of Brixton Forged WR3.2 Duo Series Wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. We also installed our GMG WEC Rollbar and gave it our signature Competition Alignment Setup.

991.2 GT3 RS Track Package and Lizard Green Love!

One of our long time customers recently came back to the Porsche side after spending some time in Mclarens! He brought in his 991.2 GT3 RS to get the GMG track ready treatment and add a little flare!

We installed our signature track setup including our GMG WEC Rollbar in Lizard Green, GMG Billet Harness Retainers, GMG Sub-Strap Mounting Plates, Schroth Racing Harnesses, and GMG Carbon Fiber Window Air Diffusers. We also aligned this beauty with our GMG Competition Setup. To really make it sing, we installed our GMG WC Center Section Exhaust and GMG WC-Evo Long Tube Headers

We also flared up the looks a little by repainting the calipers and adding GMG, GT3 RS, and Porsche vinyl logos in Lizard Green. If you like this, then just wait until you see his next track build! For now though, time to hit the track!!
