GMG to Bring Two Cars to Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series Debut

SANTA ANA, Calif. (July 4, 2013)- Just days after announcing the team’s entry in to the all-new North American version of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series, Global Motorsports Group (GMG) will enter this weekend’s debut event at Lime Rock Park with two cars, featuring four notable drivers: Parris Mullins, Tom O’Gara, Lee Davis, and Ryan Eversley.

“This is a great day for our organization,” stated GMG team owner James Sofronas. “The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series has shown a lot of potential, and we’re excited to bring our level of depth to the new series. I’m sure Parris, Tom, Lee, and Ryan will really enjoy it.”

As previously announced, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series is an all-new, one-make series in which drivers can compete in similarly prepared equipment. As the only team from Southern California competing in the series, GMG, the current Pirelli World Challenge GT point leaders, have spent a significant amount of time testing the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo. Featuring 570HP and four-wheel drive, the car is noted for being both fast and fun.

Parris Mullins and Tom O’Gara will join the team in search of a solid debut. Mullins, currently residing in Beverly Hills, California, has been a long-time supporter of the effort, and is excited to be a part of GMG’s development program. The pair will join in the No. 69 machine with sponsorship from the distinguished Lamborghini of Beverly Hills, as well as the O’Gara Coach Company.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the U.S. debut of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series,” stated Mullins. “It’s one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen on the track, and to be racing it this weekend is an honor. GMG has done a great job to test and develop this car, and I believe we’ll have an excellent product this weekend.”

For O’Gara, who will share the car with Mullins, the sentiment is shared.

“What a great opportunity for all of us,” stated the Californian. “There has been so much hype behind the program, and everyone at Lamborghini has put such a premier level of attention to the presentation, I couldn’t be happier to be part of the debut.”

Sharing the team’s second entry will be the dynamic duo of Lee Davis and Ryan Eversley. Having driven together in many different series over the last five years, the duo most recently celebrated a class podium during the 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Davis, a multi-time winner in the Cayman Intercontinental Series, as well as frequent competitor in GRAND-AM Rolex and Continental Challenge categories, looks forward to the new challenge of an all-wheel drive race car.

“Lamborghini is of course one of the most storied brands among exotic cars,” stated Davis. “When I first heard about the series, I was immediately interested, there’s something very appealing about the program. GMG comes with a great reputation for service and development, so it just seemed like the right fit. Of course teaming with Ryan makes it all the sweeter, and I’m looking forward to a great weekend.”

Ryan Eversley joins the team as a decorated sportscar veteran. Beyond being the current point leader in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge ST category, Eversley holds two wins in the Pirelli World Challenge as well as two wins in GRAND-AM competition.

“Any time I can race with Lee, it’s a good weekend,” stated Eversley. “I’ve competed against GMG on several occasions, so it’s great to finally be a part of the team. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo is an awesome car, and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel. Between Lee and GMG’s support, I have a feeling we’ll be very competitive, I’m looking forward to it.”

Davis and Eversley will feature sponsorship from Luna-C clothing on the No. 33 machine, a premier brand of racing-inspired apparel and sportswear. Worn by many drivers and crew throughout the racing paddock, Luna-C’s premier line of jackets, dress shirts and sportswear were most recently found on the entire Andretti Autosport crew during this year’s Indianapolis 500.

Race one for this weekend’s event will take place on Friday, July 5, with the second event taking place just one day later on July 6. Updates and race information can be found at gmgracing.com, or via the team’s Twitter and Facebook pages, you can follow @gmgracing.
